Fruit orchards: how do I manage the trees and the harvest?

A fruit orchard works on the same logic as a palm farm: varieties, then trees, then seasons, then treatments and harvest.

Trees

1. Open Fruit Farms → Trees — Figure 1.
2. Register the varieties first (mango, lime, pomegranate…), then add the trees with their codes, blocks and planting years.
3. As with palms, each tree has a condition and a treatment history.

Harvest

1. Open Harvest — Figure 2 — and record each picking with its date, quantity and grade.
2. Tie it to the season so it appears in the season-to-season comparison.
3. Record mortality with its cause when a tree dies.

Notes

• Fruit spoils faster than dates, so record the grade at picking, not two days later.
• Comparing two seasons only holds if you know how many bearing trees there were in each.
• A tree that keeps receiving treatments and does not bear deserves a decision, and the record is what shows you that.
