How do I sell fabric or a stock product on a tailoring invoice?

A customer having a dishdasha tailored often buys the fabric, buttons or perfume with it. You can put all of it on the same tailoring invoice: the stock is deducted and the accounts are posted without a second invoice.

When does the products section show?

The Products section appears under Tailoring services only when the Inventory module is enabled for you. Without it the invoice stays as it was: tailoring services only.

Steps

  1. Open Tailoring → Create invoice and pick the customer and the branch.
  2. In the Products section choose the warehouse the goods leave from; the branch's default warehouse is preselected.
  3. Add a product in one of two ways:
    • By barcode: put the cursor in the scan the barcode box and scan the label, or type the code and press Enter.
    • From the list: press Add product and choose it; you can search by name, barcode or SKU.
  4. The sale price is filled from the product card and its unit shows next to the quantity (metre, piece…). Change the quantity or price if needed.
  5. Save the invoice as approved, or as a draft if the order is not confirmed yet.

How the barcode works

  • Scanning a product already on the invoice adds one to its quantity instead of a new line.
  • Scanning a new product adds a line at its sale price.
  • An unknown code shows No product has this barcode, and the cursor stays in the box for the next scan.
  • Pressing Enter in this box never saves the invoice.

Stock

  • Stock is deducted when the invoice is approved, not while it is a draft.
  • If there is not enough stock, the save is refused with the product's name and the quantity available, and nothing is saved.
  • Editing an approved invoice moves only the difference; after the first deduction the warehouse is locked on the invoice.
  • Deleting the invoice returns what was deducted to the warehouse.

Products-only invoice

If the customer only buys fabric, remove the empty service line and keep the products. With nothing to tailor, the invoice becomes Delivered as soon as it is approved, and it is not counted in the order stages on the dashboard.

In the accounts

The invoice keeps a single entry, which separates tailoring service revenue from product revenue and posts the cost of goods sold against inventory. You can send each one to the account you want from Accounting → Account links, under the Tailoring invoice event.

Notes

  • Fabric the customer brings is not added as a product; write it in the service line's notes.
  • Keep fabric in stock by the metre, so fractions such as 2.5 m sell without manual sums.
  • Check the products' barcodes on their cards before relying on the scanner; a missing code means a manual search in front of the customer.
