Retention: the customer holds back part until the project ends

On engineering projects the customer often holds back a percentage of each invoice (10%, say) as a guarantee and pays it later.

For now, once linked, the Retention % field on a project invoice must stay zero, and a Retention release invoice is not accepted.

A suggested approach, for your accountant to approve: invoice the stage at its full value with its VAT, and keep the retention as an amount the customer owes, collected later with a receipt and no new invoice.

If you use retention, contact us with your accountant's decision so we can enable it.
